Zachary Sager, MD
Study Psychiatrist & Co-Investigator
Dr. Sager has been an instructor of Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and Staff Psychiatrist and Palliative Medicine clinician in the Geriatric Research Education and Clinical Center at VA Boston Healthcare system. His area of excellence is Investigations intended to better understand the nature of end of life suffering and develop novel approaches to care. He has spent approximately 70% of his time on research, 25% of his time on clinical work (including direct patient care as well as supervision in clinical settings at DFCI and Care Dimensions inpatient hospice facilities outside of Boston, MA) and 5% on teaching related to his clinical and research work. He has served as the Co-PI of an Office of Rural Health Grant and Study Psychiatrist for a private foundation grant of a clinical trial of psilocybin-assisted therapy in patients receiving hospice care (PATH Study). His scholarship activity since starting his research fellowship in 2018 includes 18 original peer-reviewed articles. He has given local, regional, and national presentations of his work.
